I'm spending the day at the legendary British Grove studio, recording an album of 'Groovy Strings' for their production library. I absolutely love doing recording sessions with great players who are also good friends. Today I'll be playing with Rustom Pomeroy, Clare Taylor, Nerys Richards and Rory Dempsey. It should be an epic day.
I'm going to be teaching at a 'Crescendo' event tonight. The idea is that I'll go into a room of 30 - 60 people and teach them how to play the violin/viola in an hour. They learn a version of the classic 'Pachabel's Canon' and it's often surprising how quickly people can pick up their instrument and play it. The events are often used for companies running teambuilding days and you can find a bit more about it all here.
I've just finished an amazing tour, playing with Snarky Puppy's keyboardist Bill Laurance. We performed his debut album, 'Flint' with a string quartet, french horn and jazz trio. The music was brilliant! Here we are, performing at 'Band on the Wall' in Manchester:
